While N-Dubz star Tulisa Contostavlos was celebrating her group’s win
on the X Factor final, her bandmate Dappy was merrily sticking the boot
in to the TV talent show.
The controversial rapper was at his Academy 2 gig in Manchester
on Sunday night, just after Little Mix were crowned the victors on the
ITV1 show, leaving Tulisa in tears of joy in her first year as a talent
show judge.
Dappy started by congratulating Tulisa on her victory, but then,
as he launched into his new song, which features Queen guitarist Brian
May, boasted: “This is what fame is, not standing for hours outside to
audition for X Factor.”
And Tulisa is sure to be less than delighted that Dappy made a
direct shot at her X Factor boss Simon Cowell, as he exclaimed “****
Simon Cowell” at one point during the gig.
The 24-year-old Camden rapper – real name Costadinos Contostavlos
– burst on stage wearing his trademark big hat and shades, and offered
plenty of “na na naii’s” for the audience to sing along to.
Despite struggling with a sore throat, he belted out hits from
his band – including Playing With Fire and Girls – as well as the chart
topper Number One.
But fans at the gig were the ones left cursing at the end of the
night – as Dappy performed a 25 minute set before changing his hat for
his encore of latest number one single No Regrets.
The whole gig was done and dusted within 35 minutes. One member
of the audience said: “As the crowd dispersed there were lots of angry
fans left wondering aloud what exactly they’d paid their £15 entry for.
“He might have been cursing Simon Cowell, but there were a fair few people cursing Dappy at the end of the night.”
